Malwazela, also known as DJ Swing, continues to build his reputation as a formidable producer, artist, and entrepreneur with the release of his latest single, “Iyah”.
Originally from Inanda in Durban, he has spent more than a decade shaping the sound of KwaZulu-Natal, blending the raw energy of South African hip-hop with the dancefloor appeal of Amapiano.

As the driving force behind Spliff Entertainment, Malwazela has steadily carved out his place in the industry, positioning himself as both a creative leader and a business-minded innovator.
How “Iyah” Came Together
“Iyah” began taking shape at Ndurex’s studio, where the foundation of the track was first laid. After Ndurex produced the beat, SPN delivered a catchy chorus that immediately gave the song its identity.
However, the track still needed a powerful lyrical presence to complete the picture. That’s where Malwazela stepped in. His first verse set the tone and raised the energy level significantly.
With momentum building, he followed up with a second verse, taking full creative control to finish what would become one of his most energetic releases to date.
The end result is a track that feels intentional and confident, reflecting the determination and drive behind its creation.
A Hustle Anthem With Street-Level Energy
“Iyah” is a high-energy trap-influenced track packed with references to hard work, ambition, and street hustle culture. The lyrics combine English and isiZulu, making the song relatable to a wide audience while staying true to its Durban roots.
Themes of persistence and financial ambition run throughout the track, with references to modern success symbols like cryptocurrency and relentless work ethic. The message is straightforward: success comes through discipline, focus, and consistency.
The track positions itself as an anthem for those chasing goals, pushing forward, and refusing to slow down.
Building a Reputation Behind the Scenes
A major part of Malwazela’s career success lies in his extensive production work and high-profile collaborations. He played a key role in producing six tracks on the debut album Ushun weNkabi by Big Zulu, a project widely recognised as a major milestone in South African hip-hop.
He also handled production duties on six tracks for Shon G’s album Mpumelelo. Over the years, he has collaborated with well-known industry figures such as Duncan, Zakwe, Musiholiq, and Musel, further strengthening his reputation as one of the architects of Durban’s evolving sound.
These collaborations have helped establish him as a reliable and respected producer within the local music landscape.
Expanding Into the Amapiano Scene
Beyond hip-hop, Malwazela has also made significant moves within the Amapiano genre. As one half of the duo uLwazi No Makhula, he has contributed to a growing catalogue of dancefloor-ready tracks.
This dual presence in both lyric-driven hip-hop and rhythm-focused Amapiano highlights his versatility as an artist and producer. It also shows his ability to adapt to changing musical trends while maintaining his signature creative style.

Malwazela’s Journey: Built on Persistence
The release of “Iyah” in 2026 reflects Malwazela’s ongoing commitment to growth and experimentation. His well-known “trial and error” philosophy, which he also explored in his 2025 book, continues to shape his professional journey.
From his early beginnings in Inanda to producing major album projects, his career reflects a consistent focus on discipline and ambition. That same hustle-driven mindset is embedded in his music, making each release feel like an extension of his personal story.
“Iyah” represents more than just a new single. It stands as a statement of intent, aimed at inspiring a new generation to pursue success with confidence and resilience.
With more music expected in the near future, Malwazela shows no signs of slowing down, feel free to follow him HERE.
