South African indie-alternative act, Jonny and the Fellow Revellers is thrilled to announce the release of a new single, “Blue Eyes,” available now on all major streaming platforms.
A project that was born out of the pandemic has continued to be one that resonates with listeners on a deeper level and the new single is no different.
Jonny shares that “Blue Eyes” dives into themes of sentimentality and longing, reflecting on life’s trajectory and the anxieties of comparison as people move away and paths diverge.
“Although the name might not suggest, this project is a solo endevaour from Jonny Smith, who has spent years carving his name into the South African music scene. For over a decade he has featured in bands such as Go Barefoot, Josh Kempen, Bye Beneco and Painted Flowers.” Jonny explains
“‘Jonny and the Fellow Revellers’ is a journey. “As we continue in life, we meet people along the way that resonate with us. Finding other ‘revellers’ such as myself, was more of a metaphor for finding those who can join in on the celebration of life through music.” says Jonny.
A love for music that started at the age of 7, Jonny started playing guitar and piano. This became a family affair as his father and brother shared the same passion for music.
“My dad, brother and I would jam 12 bar blues music every weekend until I could save up for a drum kit. I learnt the drums so I could be in a band with my brother.” he shares.
A dream that turned into a reality for Jonny as the siblings formed a band called Earl Grey and Croquet. “We ended up touring all over the country. We played anywhere we could – from the main cities to any small, weird town that welcomed us.” he says.
Jonny has crafted a distinctive indie/alternative sound characterized by honest, hard-hitting lyrics and a dynamic spectrum of influences
His music seamlessly blends scenic, bluesy, soulful, and groovy elements, creating a rich and varied listening experience. Previous success includes charting on the 5FM indie chart and having his music featured on major playlists on both Spotify and Apple Music, helping in garnering a dedicated following that still exists today.
Looking ahead, fans can expect more beautiful, scenic shows and numerous new releases from Jonny and the Fellow Revellers.
You can stream ‘Blue Eyes’ on Spotify and all other major digital platforms.
