SA’s Indie Dog is excited to announce the release of their latest single, a rock-infused cover of Miley Cyrus’ hit “Flowers.”
Known for their electrifying live performances and distinctive sound, this South African alternative band chose to reinterpret “Flowers” because of its powerful message of self-acceptance and empowerment—a theme that deeply resonates with the band.
“The idea of transforming adversity into strength is something we strongly believe in,” says Seb, Indie Dog‘s lead vocalist. “We wanted to take that message and amplify it through our rock style, making it not just something you hear but something you feel.”
The band’s rendition of the song evolved naturally with high energy, staying true to their signature style. After experimenting with it during rehearsals, they decided to include it in their setlist for a national tour across South Africa.
“We played it at every show on our national tour, and the crowds loved it,” Seb recalls. “That’s when we knew we had to record it.”
The music video for the track, directed and produced by the band, features dancer and actress Alandia van Aswagen, with filming and editing by Matthew Levings. Check it out below:
