More info about Gia McKay
Although music and dance has always been an integral part of Gia’s life, her music career only started in 2020 on a borrowed piano. Music and Medicine are Gia’s two passions; the young artist is studying a Bachelor’s degree in Human Anatomy, Physiology and Genetics. Never one to choose the easy option, Gia looks forward to seeing where this all leads.
Gia McKay has performed on the Expresso Morning Show, Afternoon Express TV and appeared on numerous radio programs and press. Gia was invited to perform at the UCT 2023 Welcome Festival, and the Mother City Jam at Grand West with Idol’s singer Berry and Majozi. She is also a regular on the Cape Town live music circuit.
Gia has also been the opening act for SA charting singers Lee Cole and Liam Burger, and was on the Top 10 for 2 weeks on Vaal Stereo with her original song “Cut Up”.
“Walls” is about guarding your heart, and being afraid to take the leap of faith that love requires. The song takes the listeners on a journey of someone who distances themselves, to save themself. We all hide parts of ourselves because of fear, insecurity and hurt, and we need time, tenderness and trust to erode the walls, and do the things that scare us the most.
“I am excited as a newly independent artist to have got to work with Cosher Studios on this track.” shares Gia
