Free Machine, a passion-driven music project formed by two sets of friends united by their shared love for ’90s grunge, is excited to release their new single, “The Comedown,” accompanied by a lyric video. The track is a standout from their debut album, Dead Echoes, which pays tribute to the iconic rock sounds of the MTV era.

Free Machine is anything but a typical band. Consisting of four former gigging musicians who have stepped away from the touring scene, the group embodies an authentic love for the music that defined their youth.

Drawing inspiration from bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Temple of the Dog, Big Wreck, and Pearl Jam, Free Machine creates a nostalgic time capsule of grunge-era rock.

“Creating this album was about challenging ourselves to craft songs we’d want to listen to,” the band shares. “It’s about recapturing the spirit of throwing on a cassette or CD and rocking out to something real and timeless.”

What sets Free Machine apart is their unique creative process. The entire album was created remotely, with each member writing, jamming, and recording independently.

Despite the physical distance, their shared passion and clear vision for ‘90s-inspired rock resulted in a cohesive and compelling debut.

“The Comedown” is built on a hypnotic, groove-laden riff that channels the raw energy of Soundgarden and the haunting depth of Alice in Chains.

Exploring themes of release and self-expression, the band describes the track: “The chorus puts you in a dream-like state, contrasting beautifully with the attitude-loaded verses.”

The lyrics of the track convey a rebellious yet relaxed outlook on personal freedom.

“It’s about tuning out the noise of judgment and savoring the small moments of release,” explains Free Machine. “Whether it’s unwinding after a tough week or stepping away from the weight of others’ expectations, the message is clear: do your thing and let others do theirs.”

Free Machine underscores that this project is driven purely by their love for music. There are no grand tours, massive promotional efforts, or extensive marketing campaigns—just a group of musicians creating music they’re passionate about and sharing it with like-minded fans.
