One of the bands that truly impressed me at Tuks FM’s New Year’s Party were Pretoria based act Frankie Fire. The group were formed in 2009. Former Tuks FM DJ Francois Du Toit (on lead vocals & guitar), Heinrich Pelser (on acoustic & electric guitar), Francois De Bruin Meyer (on bass guitar) and Freddy Helliwell (on drums) are the members of the band.
Frankie Fire has been compared to likes of aKING, Boo!, Foo Fighters and Kings of Leon. They bring a powerful and distinctly unique sound to the party though. They sing songs about life, love and everything between.
Frankie Fire has the potential to become one of the best South African live acts. Frankie Fire‘s song “Pretty Girls” reached number number 1 on the Tuks FM SA TOP 10 a few months ago and also started charting on campus stations across South Africa in 2010.
The popular South African music television channel MK also aired a music video for “Pretty Girls” in middle 2010. This song has been chosen to be first song to be featured in the Music Videos category on SA Music Zone for 2011.
This is the music video for Frankie Fire‘s “Pretty Girls”:
