With a voice that blends honesty and groove, 18-year-old Johannesburg-born artist Emma Temlett is quickly becoming one of South Africa’s most exciting young talents. She made her debut in 2023 with “Claustrophobic,” a breakout single that earned airplay on major radio stations – all while she was still finishing high school.
A self-taught songwriter and performer inspired by her Christian faith, Emma turns her experiences of love, faith, and growing up into songs that are both authentic and deeply relatable.

As she steps into life beyond school, Emma returns with her latest single, “Disguise,” a retro-funk-infused pop anthem that explores heartbreak, identity, and self-discovery. The track’s infectious rhythm and emotional depth mark a bold new era for the young artist.
“I don’t have it all figured out; I’m still learning,” Emma shares. “But that’s exactly why I sing. ‘Disguise’ is me being honest, even when it hurts, and being brave enough to share it.”
The single was produced by award-winning artist and producer Daniel Baron, who immediately recognised Emma’s potential. “When Emma first shared ‘Disguise,’ it was raw and full of innocence,” says Baron. “Now, her voice has matured into something smoky, fearless, and powerful – the perfect match for this song.”
A Confident Step Forward for Emma Temlett
With “Disguise,” Emma showcases her evolution as an artist – one who combines musical maturity with youthful energy. The track’s nostalgic pop edge and infectious groove make it the perfect soundtrack for the summer and a clear sign that Emma Temlett is only getting started.
