Droomsindroom Releases New Single: “Don’t Cry”

South African brother duo Droomsindroom (Kirsten and Kyle Schlebusch) are back with their latest English single, ‘Don’t Cry’.

They may have only burst onto the SA music scene back in 2022, but they have already established themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

Known for feel-good Afrikaans hits like “Hey Sonneblom,” “Dans Alleen,” and “Ek Ly Aan,” the brothers are embarking on a new direction with their first English album, Dream Syndrome (Season 1), which will be released on the 6th of December 2024.

“We’ve always been big dreamers and love challenging ourselves,” says Kirsten. “Releasing an English album was a big leap for us, especially since we started as an Afrikaans band. But after performing outside South Africa in places like Europe and Dubai, we quickly saw how our sound resonates with people even if they don’t understand Afrikaans. We decided to take on this project so more people could understand and sing along to our songs.”

“Don’t Cry” blends Droomsindroom’s signature style with a fresh country-pop twist, marking the first time the duo has explored this genre.

“We wanted to write a heartbreak song that still had a ‘happy, feel-good’ vibe to it,” explains Kirsten. “The lyrics touch on the way people sometimes drift apart in relationships, but it’s usually still painful for both sides when the other person feels sad.”

With its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics, the song is perfect for long road trips or for belting out the chorus with friends.

While Droomsindroom typically writes and composes all their music in-house, “Don’t Cry” sees collaboration with Graaff from Dee Graaff Music, who contributed standout country guitar parts, and Peach van Pletzen, who lent his production expertise. Together, they’ve created a song that bridges Droomsindroom’s distinct sound with a touch of country-pop.

The release of Dream Syndrome (Season 1) will be followed by a tour across South Africa and abroad, where Droomsindroom will introduce audiences to their new songs and continue to connect with fans in person. “We can’t wait to play these songs live and make new friends along the way,” says Kyle.

Two brothers from South Africa, Kirsten Richard (24) and Kyle Joshua (17), burst into the South African music scene in 2022. With a goal to make people happy and to spread the ‘good vibes’ through their music, the brother duo-band can be summed up by one phrase: BIG DREAMERS.

Whether it be in their home language, Afrikaans, or in English, their music takes any listener to a feel-good place filled with happiness and joy.
