In Febraury 2022 I made my way to Park Acoustics at Fort Schanskop in Pretoria. It was a fun-filled affair with a great line-up (which included Desmond and The Tutu‘s, Van Pletzen, Jordan Arts, Perez, Kenny Hughes and The Stinging Rogers).
Van Pletzen were the second last act to perform on the day and I vaguely remember seeing the live-music-hungry crowd going completely aapkak during their set. This kick-ass elektroniese duo ended their set with a 90s trance classic, “Sandstorm” by Darude.
I snapped this photo of Peach Van Pletzen (the lead vocalist of Van Pletzen) during daardie show and it has been selected as the photo of the week on SA Music Zone.

Before COVID-19 hit, Park Acoustics was a monthly event held at the Voortrekker Monument Nature Reserve on a monthly basis. Post-COVID the event organizers have been going with a more calculated approach and are only hosting these one-day music festivals every few months and at different venues around Pretoria. Check out their Facebook page to see when their next event is happening.
