
Jack Parow (born Zander Tyler on 22 February 1982) is a pioneering South African rapper and pop culture icon, renowned for his unapologetic embrace of “zef” culture and his signature long-brimmed cap.
Hailing from Durbanville, Cape Town, Parow has become one of the most recognizable figures in Afrikaans music, known for his energetic performances, sharp wit, and boundary-pushing lyrics.
Parow grew up in the Northern suburbs of Cape Town, South Africa, as the youngest of three siblings.
He developed a love for music early, inspired by artists like Snoop Dogg and T-Pain, and initially rapped in English before switching to Afrikaans to better express his identity.
Jack Parow’s 2009 single “Cooler as Ekke” became a viral sensation, making him a household name and earning him international airplay, especially in the Netherlands.
He has worked with major South African acts such as Die Heuwels Fantasties, Die Antwoord, and Francois Van Coke, further cementing his influence in the local music scene. Parow has also released several successful studio albums.
Beyond music, he has launched his own brandy, Parow Brandy, and a clothing line, expanding his brand into lifestyle products.
He also starred in the TV series Dis Hoe Ons Rol, which followed his journey performing in all nine provinces of South Africa.
