Global Afropop trailblazer Adekunle Gold has released his brand-new single “Coco Money,” an energetic celebration of success, freedom, and resilience.

Following the heartfelt ballad “Obimo,” “Coco Money” switches gears with an infectious, sun-soaked anthem that blends vibrant Afro-fusion production with Adekunle’s signature lyrical confidence.

Produced by Nigerian hitmakers Niphkeys and Seyifunmi, the track cleverly flips Rihanna’s iconic “Bitch Better Have My Money” line into a bold, rhythmic refrain, making it a soundtrack for those who’ve earned their shine.

The single also breaks new ground by incorporating the traditional Elegbe call-and-response riff, a first for modern Afropop. Deeply rooted in Fuji music traditions, the riff adds a raw, percussive urgency that nods to Yoruba street culture, while lush orchestral flourishes and electronic vocal textures create a soundscape that feels both ancestral and futuristic.

Lyrically, Adekunle delivers swagger and sharp social commentary, balancing Yoruba proverbs, witty observations, and party-starting energy. Lines like “Kowope, Kowope — bitch better have my money” and “Ase to ba d’eko waa ko’gbon” (when you get to Lagos, you’ll learn to be wise) highlight Lagos’ hustle culture while celebrating wealth, wit, and resilience.

Adekunle Gold Foundation Launches “5 Star Care”

Coinciding with the single release, Adekunle Gold launched the Adekunle Gold Foundation’s first major initiative: 5 Star Care — a groundbreaking program providing free health insurance for 1,000 people living with sickle cell disease in Nigeria.

Unveiled on World Sickle Cell Day, the initiative is supported by the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), the Sickle Cell Advocacy and Management Initiative (SAMI), and the Lagos State Ministry of Health. Participants will gain access to routine care, emergency services, and long-term support.

“I’ve lived with sickle cell all my life,” Adekunle Gold shares. “This foundation is about giving others the kind of care, dignity, and hope I always wished for. Everyone deserves 5-star care.”

Learn more or support the initiative at adekunlegoldfoundation.com/5starcare.

With “Coco Money” and the launch of 5 Star Care, Adekunle Gold enters a new chapter: musically independent, socially driven, and creatively unstoppable.
