The 2019 Grammy Awards ceremony was held in the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California last night. It was the 61st annual edition of this prestigious ceremony. The awards are presented by The Recording Academy.
Take-away points for the 2019 Grammy Awards:
- South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir received the Grammy award for Best World Music Album. It was the third time that they won the Grammy Award in this category. It was the fifth time that they were nominated for this award.
- Greta Van Fleet won the award for Best Rock Album.
- Childish Gambino (AKA Donald Glover) walked away with no less than 5 Grammy Awards. He didn’t attend the ceremony.
- Arianda Grande won her first Grammy Award. She did also not attend the ceremony.
- Kacey Musgraves and Lady Gaga each walked away with 4 Grammy Awards.
- There were 84 Award Categories.
- Beck won 2 Grammy Awards (for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical). This brings his total amount of Grammy Awards to 7.
