It’s a a song about hidden sadness and day-to-day life between troubled souls in love. The sound of Thorns is intimate and expressive.
An evolving acoustic and electric guitar progression build tension then ease and open up as the song unfolds. Yum Yuck navigates the listener through a relationship where one person masks their feelings, leaving the other to bear the weight of their pain. The nostalgic sounds combined with modern production create a liberating feeling to the nuanced tone and message of the song.
