Cape Town’s rock renegades We Kill Cowboys have emerged from the shadows with Back From The Dead, their long-teased new EP, and a blistering new single titled “Dig Deep”.
The band has always had a foot planted in punk, grunge, and post-hardcore, but this era sharpens their edges. The sound is heavier, leaner, and far more deliberate, without losing the scruffy honesty that’s made them a pillar of South Africa’s underground scene.

Alex Muller Steps Into Full-Time Vocal Duty
Alex Muller – tattoo artist, songwriter, and now full-time vocalist – drives this chapter with a voice that cuts straight to the nerve. His delivery has a grit-and-gravel urgency that fits the band’s themes of resistance, rebellion, and personal fight-back.
Back From The Dead feels like a cathartic purge, shaped by stories that sit comfortably in the tension between raw emotion and outright defiance.
A Reinforced Guitar Assault
A second guitarist, Floris Le Roux, joins the fray, bringing welcome muscle to the guitar work. His precision locks in tightly with Mornay’s serrated riffs, expanding the band’s sonic weight.
Behind them, Andrew’s bruising drum work and Miggs’ dense, distorted basslines give We Kill Cowboys a low-end thump that’s impossible to ignore.
Raw, Unfiltered, and Unapologetically Underground
The band has never been interested in polishing away their edges, and this release stays true to that spirit. There’s no filter, no softening, just a band baring teeth and heart in equal measure.
Back From The Dead arrives with a renewed sense of mission: louder, sharper, and fully committed to their own chaos-soaked identity.

We Kill Cowboys‘ “Dig Deep”: A Fierce Call to Inner Strength
The new single “Dig Deep” pulls that energy into tight focus. Fueled by adrenaline and introspection, the song digs into the struggle of shedding ego and trusting your internal compass. It’s about growth, courage, and leaning into whatever fire drives you forward.
Alex switches between melodic grit and full-throated screams, creating a tension that lands with emotional punch. “Dig Deep” blends the band’s trademark hardcore heft with hooks that lodge themselves under the skin, leaving the listener fired up and ready for more.
