Through her music and her dancing, Uncle Waffles has taken the beat and the beauty of Amapiano to the world, embarking on a journey that has seen her rise from a viral sensation in the clubs of Soweto to a global icon who sells out the arenas of Europe.
To share her inspirational story this September, Uncle Waffles and KFC invites you to Hack the Streets to discover the exclusive KFC Uncle Waffles Burger as part of a wonderful celebration of the places and spaces that have shaped her as an artist and an African. Explore the buzz and pulse of our cities and embrace the landmarks where the uniquely South African sound of Amapiano was born and lives.
Hot off the release of her new single “Echoes” from her latest project, Solace, her US and Europe tour, the Coachella stage and her BET awards nominations, the Amapiano star is taking us on a memory trip of her key career moments by dropping location clues and asking fans to Hack the Streets.
Uncle Waffles comments
“Being able to show fans my journey in music and life is both extraordinary and humbling. Watch for the clues, visit the landmarks, find the scannable QR codes, get the UW Burger to secure the bag, and maybe even win an exclusive Uncle Waffles experience with KFC or some limited KFC x Uncle Waffles merch. Find it. Scan it. Shop it. Share it,”
And what is IT? It’s shopping Mzansi’s most exclusive burger in the most exclusive way: limited stores, limited period, limited product. Yup, after a brief flirtation at Kentucky Town, the KFC Uncle Waffles burger is going national: SA’s most exclusive burger is a crispy KFC fillet coated in KFC’s secret 11 herbs and spices, dunked in maple chipotle sauce and served between two warm waffles.
Hloni Mohope, Marketing Director KFC comments
“Bringing together KFC and Uncle Waffles in this one-of-a-kind collaboration has not only been exciting but inspirational. It enables us to tell the story of the global success of Uncle Waffles, to spread the beauty of Amapiano and celebrate it with an exclusive burger that will only be available for a limited time.”
This has been launched on Tuesday, the 29th of August 2023 at selected stores only. Click and collect – make use of KFC delivery & UberEats.

More info about KFC South Africa
KFC has been in South Africa for over 52 years and has over 1300 stores across the country. The first KFC restaurant to open in South Africa was in 1971 in Orange Grove, Johannesburg. KFC is the leading Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand in South Africa, with just under a third of market share, according to Brand Image Tracker.
KFC serves more than 20 million customers a month, and we work hard to ensure that no matter which of our restaurants they walk into, they will get that distinctive KFC flavour and have a great experience. KFC’s Original Recipe® Chicken was first made by Colonel Harland Sanders in 1940 when he perfected his secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices at his restaurant in Kentucky.
Today, KFC is the world’s most popular chicken restaurant, still preparing our chicken with the Colonel’s secret recipe to his exact standards. Every KFC restaurant follows the same global processes and procedures to make sure that our customers get great tasting food, every time.
