The Color Blew have released a lyric video for “African Sky”. Formed in 2014, Johannesburg based rock quartet The Color Blew are set to release their second full length album Light Switch on the 1st of November 2019.
In a world of overproduced and shallow, commercial music they provide the “alternative” where talent and passion merge with meaning and sound – a place free from preconceived notions of how music should sound.
“African Sky”, the first single from the album is something a little different to the bands usual riff-driven rock. The tracks sees them introducing strong South African rhythms and melodies.
The Color Blew Vocalist Liaan Horton explains “African Sky”
“Originally the Riff was written by Tim while just jamming one night at rehearsal. It was fun to do, so George and Armando jumped onboard and it was just a jam. I remember trying to sing It as smooth as possible, as a joke really, and came up with the lyrics for the chorus right there…In my head the melody I would sing, and the lyrics were actually a joke…
I wanted to remove it as far as possible from what we had been doing as a band… a bit of paprika in our marinade! The rest is history we played the song live and everyone from kitchen staff to car guards would jump on the dance floor… It’s a happy song filled with subtle irony.”
