The bold and dynamic Cape Town artist, Rebel Bunny, has released her latest single, “Back to the Future”, offering a track with a unique origin story and a memorable studio day that will be cherished forever.
Written in Frankfurt, Germany, by Rebel Bunny and Jonathan Lindner during their writing tour in June 2023, “Back to the Future” was inspired by a serendipitous moment during Rebel Bunny’s commute in London.
Rebel Bunny explains
“During my commute between studios, I noticed a recurring poster at every train station for the ‘Back to the Future’ movie franchise. I remember thinking, ‘Wow! That would be such a cool song title.’ So, when I headed into Frankfurt and Jonathan asked what we should write about, I said, ‘I’m not sure, but it has to have the title Back to the Future'”.
“From there, we started playing around on the guitar with the title, and the rest was history. We decided to write a story about a relationship that can never move forward because they’re always digging into the past, hence came the catchphrase of the song ‘come back to the future,'”
The collaboration with Austrian producer Jonathan Lindner was a dream come true for Rebel Bunny.

“We knew we wanted to write an epic EDM-sounding track, and teaming up with Jonathan was such a dream. Jonathan is a multi-talented producer from Austria making his way onto the scene, and his style worked perfectly with mine.”

The melody flowed naturally from their chosen chord progression, resulting in a catchy hook complemented by sassy innuendos that align perfectly with Rebel Bunny’s rebellious persona, full of attitude and honesty.
