Country artist Phil Gregory is back with “Can’t Resist,” the latest single from his forthcoming EP Heart & Soul. The six-track collection explores the full spectrum of relationships, from desire and devotion to heartbreak and healing.
While previous releases such as “Footprint” reflected on fleeting holiday romance, “Can’t Resist” captures the instant spark between two people who feel an immediate pull and simply can’t walk away.

Phil Gregory describes it as “the chance meeting of two people who fall for each other immediately – and the rest is history. I guess I’m still a believer in love at first sight.”
A Cross-Continental Collaboration
Like the rest of Heart & Soul, “Can’t Resist” was created through a unique remote-production process. Phil co-wrote most of the EP with his nephew Billy Gregory from the UK band Crystal Tides, starting with rough phone recordings that evolved into polished demos at producer David Evans’ home studio in Portsmouth, England.
The project became a cross-continental collaboration:
- Bass recorded in the north of England
- Drums laid down in the south
- Guitars tracked in Nashville
Each musician contributed from their own space, with Evans weaving the performances into a cohesive final sound. “It’s strange not being in the same room,” Phil admits, “but it works incredibly well. It means I can work with some of the best musicians around the world without being restricted by geography.”
Phil Gregory is a Storyteller Shaped by Two Worlds
Born in southern England in the 1950s and now based between the UK and South Africa, Phil Gregory blends country, rock, and pop into a sound that feels both nostalgic and modern.
His reflective storytelling first reached wide audiences with his 2020 debut album Good Intentions, followed by the 2022 EP 22: Not Out, which featured Spotify and Apple Music-supported singles including “Movin’ On,” “Nowhere For Our Love To Hide,” and “Holding Candles.”
In 2024, Phil Gregory released Botley Drive, an EP inspired by his childhood in Leigh Park, Portsmouth, featuring radio favourites “If I Can’t Have You” and “Key To Your Heart.”
The upcoming EP Heart & Soul traces the emotional journey of relationships, including:
- Lust: “Number On My Mind”
- Holiday romance: “Footprint”
- A proposal: “If You Ever Change Your Name”
- The end of a marriage: “Heart & Soul”
- Love at first sight: “Can’t Resist”
With “Can’t Resist,” Phil Gregory celebrates the beginning of it all – the spark that makes two people pause and recognise something real.
“Can’t Resist” and the full EP Heart & Soul will be released in early 2026.
