Ahead of his upcoming world tour, Charlie Puth has released his fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, via Atlantic Records.

The project marks a more personal chapter in his career, with Puth leaning into vulnerability and self-reflection. He has described the album as an opportunity for listeners to finally connect with him beyond the music, exploring themes and emotions he had previously avoided.

Sonically, the album draws inspiration from artists like Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, and Philip Bailey, resulting in a warm, rich sound shaped by vintage textures and modern experimentation.

Working alongside co-producer BloodPop, Charlie Puth pushed himself creatively, embracing imperfections and a more human approach to recording in an era increasingly influenced by AI-driven precision.

The album’s lead single “Sideways” sees Puth collaborating with Coco Jones, delivering a smooth, ’90s-inspired R&B track that highlights their vocal chemistry. The song was recently performed live on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, further building momentum around the release.

    Check out the performance below:

Elsewhere on the album, standout moments include “Love In Exile”, featuring legendary voices Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins, blending yacht rock nostalgia with contemporary production, and “Until It Happens To You”, which incorporates a spoken word contribution from Jeff Goldblum.

On a more personal note, “Hey Brother” sees Puth addressing his younger sibling directly, reflecting the album’s overarching theme of intimacy and honesty.

Across the project, he explores relationships with family, love, and personal growth, ultimately presenting what he considers his most authentic body of work to date. With Whatever’s Clever!, Puth embraces who he is both as an artist and an individual, delivering a collection of songs grounded in real experiences and emotional truth.
