Charlie Harris Releases “When Are You Coming Home?”

South African singer-songwriter Charlie Harris returns with a heartfelt new single, “When Are You Coming Home?” — a folk-rock anthem that transforms personal heartbreak into communal celebration. Accompanied by a vibrant, feel-good music video, the track blends emotional honesty with an infectious rhythm.

The song holds deep personal significance for Charlie. “I lost someone close to me in 2025 — not to death, but in the sense that they drifted out of my life. For a long time, I wondered if they ever thought about me, if they still cared or loved me. I just really wanted them to come back.”

Instead of leaning into melancholy, Charlie chose to reshape that emotional weight into something lighter.
“A lot has changed since then, and I didn’t want the song to feel heavy or sad — so it turned into something upbeat and vibrant. That honestly feels right for where I’m at now.”

    A Dynamic Live Energy

Charlie brings the track to life with his band, Keep Guessing Charlie, featuring longtime collaborators Shaun Ruysenaar (drums), Andre Feldmann (bass), Louise Cloete (keyboards), and Frank Coerlin (guitar). Their live performance style infuses the music with raw storytelling and indie-rock textures, capturing both vulnerability and vitality.

A Music Video Fueled by Connection

The accompanying music video builds on the song’s themes of longing and unity. Charlie Harris invited fans and friends from around the world to send clips of themselves clicking along to the beat — a subtle gesture echoing the song’s emotional rhythm.

    Watch the video below:

“The response was better than I ever imagined,” says Charlie Harris. “It’s become a celebration of everything the song has grown to represent — not just for me, but for everyone who’s been through a quiet kind of goodbye.”

    A Journey Rooted in Authenticity

Based in Johannesburg, Charlie Harris‘ musical journey began with inspiration from his guitar-playing uncle and took off when he received his first guitar at 13. Overcoming early shyness through open mic nights, he eventually formed projects like Hemisphere and Radio Unfriendly, before establishing Keep Guessing Charlie.

After releasing two acclaimed albums — Digital Dust – Side A and Side B — “When Are You Coming Home?” opens a bold new chapter in Charlie’s artistic evolution.
