Cape Town based, South African folk punk misfit Cami Scoundrel has released the video for her new single “Fallen Homies”. The track is taken from her recent album Those Days, One part punk, another part hopeless romantic Cami’s songs lay it bare: the reality of her life, her experiences, what she stands for, and what’s going down, in this place, right now, as plain and brutal as it really is.
The video for “Fallen Homies” (which is directed, shot, and edited by David van Rensburg at the Jungle Jam Room aka Cami’s lounge), creates the perfect vibe for the heartfelt ode to friends lost along the way.
Cami Scoundrel comments on “Fallen Homies”
“I’ve lost a lot of homies. One of those inspired a generation of South African punks, he was George Bacon, frontman of Hog Hoggidy Hog. I was on a tour – playing STRAB (a festival in Mozambique) with Ann Jangle, Crimson House, and 7th Son – we’d just crossed over the border, when we found out he had died the night before. Lost in the madness of the afterparty of the Hogs long anticipated reunion show. The whole bus got the news simultaneously. Matt, Jangle’s drummer, and I downed a bottle of whisky between the two of us, we cried and slept for the rest of the 26-hour bus ride. I wrote this song a week later in the post tour depression. 2015 was a rough year, George was not the only friend to pass. This is a song for my Fallen Homies.”
