Boargazm is one of South Africa’s premiere hardcore metal acts, delivering hard, aggressive & groovy slices of top shelf metal theatrics.
Boargazm was founded by iconic musician Heine van der Walt, the youngest brother of the prestigious “Wolmer” clan. The Wolmer brothers have been involved in countless acts since the early 90s, and includes famed South African bands Not My Dog, Jack Hammer, Thysis and Vulvodynia.
More info about Boargazm
Sporting sci-fi inspired costumes with a trilogy of albums and accompanying comic books, they tell the story of a rebel band of time-travelling freedom fighters known as “The Pig Whisperers”, who warn the world of the impending Aporkalypse, through the Baconing, all the way to Armagammon.
The members of the band are Heine van der Walt (Vocals, Writer, Founder), Chris van der Walt (Guitar, Producer), Jason Hinch (Drums), Cicero Carstens (Bass), and Dale McHardy (Guitar).
Today sees the release of their anticipated new single “Omikron”, taken from upcoming album Armagammon (which will be released via Mongrel Records on the 5th of May 2023). Influenced by classic Nu & Modern Metal “Omikron” plays strongly into Boargazm’s graphic comic thematic.
Heine van der Walt from Boargazm explains the track
“It’s a fictional chapter in the album of where they get out of their crash-landed ship and see a whole new weird planet full of danger. The guys are trying to survive the perils of the native alien fauna and flora, as well as running and hiding from their aggressors, so they can setup some traps and sabotage their outposts. Think Rambo on Pandora.”

“Omikron” is definitely one of the best metal tracks that I’ve heard by a South African artist in 2023. I am curious to find out how the rest of Boargazm‘s album is going sound when it’s released in May.
