The new year is already looking brighter! South Africa’s most cherished musical treasure, the Ndlovu Youth Choir, is returning for their annual, joy-filled tour of Johannesburg and Cape Town.
These performances have become must-see musical extravaganzas, blending gorgeous melodies with mesmerizing movement. If you need any proof, the choir’s national tours have completely sold out every year since 2021, a testament to the love and esteem they’ve earned from their home audience.

A New Show with a Proudly South African Heart
For the 2026 shows, founder and conductor Ralf Schmitt promises a programme with an even stronger South African flavour, emphasizing the nation’s diverse musical traditions and shared spirit.
“Alongside classics such as ‘Mbube’ and ‘Homeless’, we have included Ghoema music, which celebrates the joy of Tweede Nuwejaar and Cape Town’s vibrant culture,” Schmitt explains. “The aim is to cover a wide range of South African genres, including gospel and an Amapiano medley, as well as hits from many of South Africa’s greatest singers and bands such as Mango Groove, Hugh Masekela, Johnny Clegg, and Miriam Makeba.”
From Local Classics to Global Hits (Even Queen Approves!)
Fans can also look forward to powerful South African classics like “African Dream” and “Pata Pata,” alongside songs that celebrate the continent, such as “Circle Of Life,” “Waka Waka,” and Toto‘s timeless anthem “Africa.”
The Ndlovu Youth Choir’s incredible ability to transform international hits has won them fans worldwide. Audiences will be treated to their unique arrangements of songs like “Higher Love,” the sublime “Nessun Dorma,” and, of course, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
The choir’s version of the Queen hit made waves in 2024, but an unexpected bonus reaction came in September 2025. Queen‘s legendary drummer, Roger Taylor, saw a music video of their performance and posted on Instagram, saying how much he “enjoyed the wonderful video of your fantastic version of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.” What an incredible honour!
