After more than 15 years away from releasing a full-length RnB and Pop project, multi-award-winning South African singer and songwriter Loyiso Bala makes a decisive return to the genre that first defined his career with his new single, “That RnB.” The track is the first release from a forthcoming RnB album scheduled for later this year.
“There’s intention behind the timing,” and it’s audible. “That RnB” explores romance, intimacy, and emotional connection, delivering a smooth and soulful sound that feels nostalgic without sounding dated.
Drawing on the warmth of classic RnB – think slow dances and candle-lit moments – the single also reflects Loyiso’s artistic growth, confidence, and lived experience, giving the genre a contemporary, mature edge.
The release follows Loyiso Bala’s steady reconnection with RnB in recent years. In 2023, he reignited his passion for the genre with “Do It Again,” a collaboration with Gigi LaMayne co-written with Jimmy Nevis.
That track marked both a romantic and musical reunion with RnB, and since then, growing fan demand for a full project has helped set the stage for this next chapter.
Written by Derek Masvosvere and produced by longtime collaborator and childhood musical partner Crighton Goodwill, “That RnB” carries a strong sense of authenticity and continuity. Goodwill has worked on every Loyiso Bala album to date, and their enduring creative partnership blends familiar musical chemistry with a polished, modern RnB sound.
For Loyiso, the single represents the beginning of a larger story. He describes “That RnB” as a clear reflection of where he is right now – honest, intentional, and rooted in love – while laying the emotional foundation for the album that follows.
“That RnB” signals an album journey that revisits the genre that first connected Loyiso Bala with audiences, now shaped by deeper storytelling, renewed emotional focus, and a greater appreciation for connection and vulnerability.

Loyiso Bala is a multi-award-winning musician and broadcaster with a career spanning music, television, and radio. He has performed alongside international icons such as Stevie Wonder and Josh Groban, and for global figures including Nelson Mandela and Oprah Winfrey. He is also a seasoned TV and radio host, MC, and corporate performer.
Loyiso currently serves as Business Manager for SABC radio stations Umhlobo Wenene and trufm, which together reach over five million listeners. He previously held the role of Channel Director at TBN Africa, the continent’s largest Christian television network.
His accolades include seven South African Music Awards, three Metro FM Awards, and multiple honours from Men’s Health, You Magazine, GQ, and the South African Film and Television Awards for his contribution to music and broadcasting.
