Kharishma (born Melita Ribane) is a dynamic singer, songwriter, and performer from Limpopo, South Africa. Known as the Queen of Lekompo, she has been instrumental in bringing the genre – which fuses traditional Limpopo rhythms with Afrobeat and modern house – into the mainstream. Her fearless artistry and powerful vocals have positioned her at the forefront of a new musical wave.
At just 20 years old, she broke onto the scene with “Chokeslam”, a viral sensation produced with Ba Bethe Gashoazen. The track claimed Song of the Year titles on both Thobela FM and Capricorn FM, while racking up more than 20 million streams across digital platforms.
