Multi-Platinum artist Johan Sifiso Sithebe – better known as Da Mabusa – is a South African singer, record label owner, and composer hailing from Kwamhlanga, Mpumalanga. His musical journey began in 2007 in a local choir, later establishing his own group in 2019.
His breakthrough arrived in 2022 with the chart-topping single “Umama Owangizalayo,” which achieved multi-platinum success and cemented him as one of South Africa’s most exciting independent artists. That same year, he released his debut EP Izipho and a string of follow-up singles including “Syeke.”
In 2023, Da Mabusa founded Major Role Music and delivered major hits such as “Hamba Juba,” “Ngcel’buye,” and the platinum-selling piano remix “Umama Owangizalayo 2.0.” His collaborations span both local and international artists, including Shebeshxt, Paige & Sdala B, Rayvanny, and Nutty O.
The momentum continued in 2024 with the release of two acclaimed albums, Corrections and First Lesson, each surpassing 5 million streams. In 2025, he has already made waves with “Amaphupho,” and now, with “Uxolo,” he showcases his emotional depth through amapiano.
Da Mabusa’s growing impact on the music industry has earned him nominations at the Afrime Ghana Music Awards and SATMA Awards. He has also shared stages with some of the continent’s biggest names, including Makhadzi, Master KG, and Young Stunna.
