Celine is a 23-year-old South African singer, songwriter, musician and actress who discovered her passion for music at the tender age of 11.
Today, her unique sound and well-crafted, original songs feature a unique blend of confessional lyrics and a layered rock-influenced sound. This pioneering female musician talks about sensitivity and vulnerability with emotive delivery in a subtly folk-inflected style that also combines elements of adult contemporary, blues and jazz.
Celine originally made her debut on the SA music scene in 2017, playing lively and versatile performances at well-known events like the Season of Sauvignon at Hillcrest Quarry, Helderberg Craft Beer Festival, Barleycorn Music Festival and Delheim Harvest Festival.
She recorded her full-length debut album “Blue” in April 2018, receiving outstanding reviews and interviews on KFM, MFM, and Cape Talk. Her songs are currently playlisted on several SA radio stations including KFM, MFM, Redcap Radio (Mr Price), Mix FM, Bay Radio and Bok Radio, among others.
Celine’s latest single, Call Me, explores the notion of one-sided friendships and relationships, expressing the near-euphoric feeling of eventual liberation with a punchy, in-your-face chorus and lyrics that listeners can easily sing along to.
“Call Me explores the idea of caring about someone who doesn’t value you nearly as much as you do them, and the uneven power dynamic that occurs because of this,” says Celine. “The lyrics are written at the point of realisation, of being fed-up with the situation and calling the person out on their behaviour. It also explores the theme of how wishing to see the best in people – even though this is a good quality – often hinders our ability to see people’s true colours. When the realisation occurs, there is great liberation in leaving a toxic situation.”

She is aiming to release at least two more singles in 2020 and is currently working towards writing, recording and releasing either an EP or her second full-length album in the near future. Plans are in the works for a tour abroad soon as well, so watch this space.
