Today (the 11th of November 2022) sees the release of a brand new single from Zebraman, entitled “Wicked Wonder”. “Wicked Wonder” comes after the release of their previous single ‘Summer High’ in August this year, and is the first offering from their brand new album, set for release in 2023.
“Wicked Wonder” was written in 2021 by Johan Viljoen and Franzua van den Heever, and inspired by a new synthesizer Johan bought on the same day he met his girlfriend. He was in love, and together with the fact that he had a new instrument with new sounds, the song was written in a matter of hours.
Franzua explains “Wicked Wonder”
“”Wicked Wonder” describes the desire between two lovers in a fictional love affair. The woman may be a ghost dancing her way through a brightly lit cityscape. You can sense that she is burning away (fading). And you dream of finding her and bringing her to life through love. She is this wonder that is never found and forever wanders through the concrete jungle.”
“Wicked Wonder” gives fans a first real taste of what is to come from the band’s first full length album, set for release in February 2023, and portrays the fantasy world we often find ourselves in as individuals. The single is also a special offering from the band, seeing as it is the first song all members have recorded vocals on. Already heard on the opening segment of the song, the vocals together create a fresh new sound which the band can not wait to share with their fans. They also describe “Wicked Wonder” as their most 80s and up-tempo song to date.
