VonZound re-imagines the best of new wave and synth from the 80’s in a fresh new electronic style. They live breathe and eat the 80’s. No guitars just synth!
More info about VonZound
Johannesburg based snyth-worshipping duo VonZound is born out of their love for the 80s and alternative music. “Mystery & Jealousy”, the bands brand new single takes you back to the sounds of the band’s favourite decade, mixing their influences which include Depeche Mode, The Editors, Future Islands and New Order with modern beats and sounds to create a unique pop sound that is uniquely their own. The track also features a guest appearance by the incredibly talented KJM Cornetist on trumpet.
Compromising of Julian von Plato on vocals and production and Mark Wilson on keys, VonZound has been 5 years in the making. Originally covering their favourite 80’s tracks, over the years the process of writing new and original material became their primary focus. The time has finally come to share the sound that is VonZound.
Julian von Plato explains the duo’s aim
“Our aim is to release new material consistently and remind the world why the 80’s was the coolest era for synth and new wave. The video for “Mystery & Jealousy” captures the feel of the 80’s, simple, dirty and to the point!”
