Undertone opens 2026 with “Running Ahead”, a bright, high-energy house release that lives up to its name. The track skips traditional verses entirely, launching straight into the chorus before unfolding into a carefully placed bridge that keeps the momentum soaring without losing its sense of lift.
Set in A♯ major at 126 BPM, “Running Ahead” is an uplifting, summer-ready release perfectly timed for the Southern hemisphere season.

Damian’s vocals arrive immediately, setting a tone that feels both warm and urgent. Layered arpeggios, tremolo-textured synths and a fast, clean bassline propel the track forward, while a classic Reese bass appears at key moments to add depth and club credibility.
A tight, punchy kick anchors everything front and centre, giving the production a confident, dancefloor-focused edge.
From studio revisions to final polish
The track took six weeks to complete and went through multiple revisions, including a full mix overhaul, before being finalised by Fin Mastering. The result is a polished, radio- and club-ready sound that feels refined without losing its energy or immediacy.
Undertone is building momentum through recent releases
“Running Ahead” follows a strong run of releases that highlight Undertone’s range and emotional sensitivity as a producer. More recently, “Ngiyajola (A Date Song)” leaned into joy and cultural celebration, blending upbeat Zulu lyrics with EDM, piano-led melodies and crisp percussion. The track earned play across a wide range of club spaces, from Amapiano lounges to deep house and EDM floors.
Across releases such as “Ngiyajola (A Date Song)”, “Don’t Give Up”, “Alive”, “Open Spaces”, “Falling”, and the internationally supported “Kind Of Love”, which received airplay on BBC Radio and at Club Mambo in Ibiza, Undertone has built a reputation for emotive builds, clean drops and emotionally honest electronic music.
With “Running Ahead”, Undertone delivers a feel-good, high-impact statement. It is an energetic stride forward and a confident way to set the tone for the year ahead.
