Yesterday saw the release of The Parlotones’ long-awaited new album China. This brand new studio album was released both locally and internationally.
‘China’ was recorded over a four month period at High Seas Studios in Johannesburg. The creative process commenced with lead singer Kahn spending a period of time in England with a selection of renowned songwriters to establish the path the album would take.
Working with the likes of two time Ivor Novello Award winner and Grammy nominated songwriter Sacha Skarbek (best known for writing James Blunt’s hit singles “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover” as well having worked with artists such as Adele, Lana Del Rey, Jason Mraz, Tears for Fears, and many more), Richard Archer (singer-songwriter, lead vocalist, guitarist and principal songwriter of indie rock band Hard-Fi), Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly musician Sam Duckworth and a selection of other songwriters the foundation of the album was born.
The album offers 25 tracks (Double CD release) that is sure to appeal to the bands fans around the world as well as to open them up to a whole new audience with their ever-evolving sound, yet still maintaining that signature Parlotones sound.
Kahn Morbee comments on the New album from The Parlotones
“It’s quite an exciting year for us, releasing a double album to celebrate 2 decades coupled with a local and international tour…it’s kinda surreal coz it feels as fresh and as exciting as when we first started but it’s an adventure that’s spanned 20 years”
“We are really looking forward to bringing a new, yet familiar sound to all of our fans and allowing them to interpret what each song means to them. The songs mirror the human journey and reflects our melancholic as well as blissful sides laced with questions about life and our perspectives. We’re all thrilled about the end result and can’t wait to share it with the world”
