After a four-year hiatus (2013 – 2017) The Man Motels are back! With new members, Lyle Aspeling and Pierre Horne, joining frontman, Garrith Holloway, the band now boasts an even bigger sound, higher energy and killer live performance.
Within only 6 months the new ensemble have recorded an 8-track studio album tilted, Quit Looking at Me! and independently produced a music video for the single, “Homecoming”. The band chose to have the album recorded by drumming legend and mixing wizard, Tim Rankin, at T-Time Studio in Somerset West and mastered by sound genius, Tim Lengfelt at TL Mastering.
Quit Looking at Me! is scheduled to release at the end of July 2018. The album, including the single “Homecoming” will be available via all major online music stores.
The Man Motels are gearing up for a busy end to 2018, releasing their single Homecoming together with their debut music video for the single. The video is super energetic, fun, unscripted and will resonate with anyone who has ever spent a day in Stellenbosch or Cape Town.
The viewer is the fourth member running through / visiting iconic areas within the Boland and Cape such as, Eerste Rivier, Hangbrug, Coetzenburg, Bohemia, Die Mystic Boer, the Company Gardens and Long Street before reaching their final destination, the one and only Kill City Blues Recording and Rehearsal Studio (where the band performs and parties with their friends and fans).
The artwork was done by Nicole Liebenberg. The video and editing was done by Rudi Kruger, Louwrens Venter and Jan Schoeman The recording and mixing was done by Tim Rankin. The mastering was done by Tim Lengfeld.

I’m really digging the track. The music video for “Homecoming” is something we haven’t really seen from a South African artist before. It’s hip and I’m intrigued and curious to find out how the rest of The Man Motels upcoming album is going to sound. I guess that I’ll have to wait till the end of July…
The Man Motels will be playing two official launch shows:
- 26 July 2018 – Bohemia, Stellenbosch with support acts, Mobbing Bali and In Bloom.
- 27 July 2018 – Aces N Spades, Cape Town with support act, Retro Dizzy
