Lead vocalist and singer / songwriter Chris Tait (also known as tAIT) has been creating infectious pop/rock music for nearly two decades. With a slew of radio hits under his belt and a reputation for being one of South Africa’s top music producers, he has worked with some of SA’s best.
Having had a few line-up changes over the years, and after a much needed hiatus from the music biz, Chris is now ready to release his first offering in nearly 6 years. Skitzo is an eclectic collection of catchy pop/rock songs, that are sure to meet the expectations of all tAIT fans.
Chris Tait explains his journey
“I took a break from writing for a few years because I felt a little burnt out and was having a bad case writers block. So decided to focus on my studio business instead. I really needed the break, because i feel like I’m writing some of my best stuff right now. I hadn’t picked up the guitar to write my own material in at least 6 years, but it felt like it was time. Having gone through so much in the past decade, while dealing with depression and crippling anxiety it seemed like there was some light at the end of the tunnel and i was gonna run flat out at it!!”
The EP was recorded and produced at Chris’s Blackhole Studios in Cape Town. Fellow Cape Town musician and friend Dane Wood helped out on drums, the rest is all played, recorded and produced by Chris.
The EP pays homage to the first tAIT album (“Back Seat driver”) and features special guest appearances on the track “Why” from Tom Fox of Bright Blue on guitar, and James Stewart from The Usual on Keys.
“Skitzo is basically about my slightly schizophrenic taste in music and song-writing. I’ve tried to stifle it for years, by pushing myself in various directions, but this time I’m embracing my inner skitzo and just laying it out there like it is! The songs themselves revolve around love, depression and pretty much my journey so far.”
Skitzo is available now on all digital platforms including Deezer, iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.
