School of Rock South Africa is thrilled to announce its expansion with the signing of a new Sub-Franchise Agreement. This exciting development will bring the first School of Rock location to Johannesburg, specifically in the vibrant neighborhood of Parktown North.
The new franchisee, joining a global network of over 375 schools in 17 countries, is enthusiastic about introducing School of Rock’s renowned music education program to Johannesburg. They are eager to nurture a love for music and provide students with an exceptional platform to hone their talents and skills.
Russell Lund, the Franchisee and Owner of the upcoming School of Rock Parktown North, is a family man, outdoor enthusiast, and entrepreneur. He shares his love for music with his wife and two children.
At their Cape Town home, his 8-year-old son can often be heard shredding on his electric guitar, his 11-year-old daughter sings beautifully, and his wife Anneke, a classically trained pianist, leads the way. Russell adds to the family jam sessions by playing his cherished Martin acoustic guitar.
Russell is also the founder of Helium Advertising, a 25-year-old agency specializing in the banking sector, and Lund Rug Gallery, a boutique high-end rug business with locations in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Passionate about music, education, and children, Russell fell in love with the School of Rock concept through his then seven-year-old son’s experience at the Claremont school. “Joining the School of Rock family is a thrilling opportunity. We are passionate about music education and excited to offer a unique and enriching experience for students in Johannesburg.”
The Parktown North School of Rock location will offer a variety of programs designed to inspire and engage students of all ages, including performance-based music instruction, group classes, and private lessons.

This expansion into Johannesburg highlights School of Rock’s ongoing dedication to growing its global network and reaching new audiences. The Johannesburg expansion is the beginning of a strategic initiative by School of Rock South Africa Master Franchisees, Keith Taeuber and Leigh Spaun, to establish a network of schools across the country over the next five years. The duo owns the successful School of Rock in Claremont, Cape Town, and plans to open another company-owned school in Devonbosch in the Cape Winelands in 2025.
