Goodnight Wembley have released a music video for “Bad Reputation” (the second song that has been released off their upcoming debut album “Bang”). It’s one of the coolest tunes that I’ve heard in the last few months and I’m glad that the release date for their album (which is said to be the end of May 2013) is creeping closer and closer.
In case you missed my post about their first song, “Time Machine”, Goodnight Wembley is made up of members for Dead Lucky, Taxi Violence and 7th Son and have been making waves in the SA music industry over the last few months or so. The members of the band are George van der Spuy, Miggs Auer, Alex Krause, Nic Gaud and Jean Labuschagne.
Goodnight Wembley list their influences as Wolfmother, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Parlour Mob, Rage Against The Machine, The Black Keys and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and you can definitely hear elements of all these bands in their songs. I’m glad that someone in SA is successfully pulling off the Rock / Retro Rock / Hard Rock. If you ask me, this band is also one of the better live acts currently circling live venues in the SA Music Scene.
So without further ado, take a look at the new Goodnight Wembley music video below. It contains live footage from many of their gigs (including the one they recently played at Arcade Empire in Pretoria).
“Bad Reputation” is one of those catchy tunes that I don’t mind having in my head all day. Granted telling oneself that one has a “Bad Reputation” isn’t very uplifting, but at least it’s better than having a Bruno Mars of Nicky Minaj song stuck in your head.
