Nashville-born and now Los Angeles-based guitarist Ned Evett brings his innovative sound and exceptional fretless guitar artistry to South Africa this December.
Known for creating the glass-necked fretless guitar and collaborating with renowned figures in the music industry, Ned Evett’s upcoming tour offers fans a rare chance to experience his unique, high-energy rock style.
Ned Evett’s latest album, Strange Kind of Freedom, highlights his incredible skill on the one-of-a-kind all-glass fretless Morningstar Glass Guitar, an instrument that enhances his signature slide and technical prowess.
On this record, Ned Evett is joined by drummer Shane Gaalaas and Grammy-winning bassist Pete Griffin, forming a powerful rhythm section that brings Ned Evett’s compositions to life. The album has been mixed and mastered by celebrated producer Cory Churko, adding further depth to the album’s expansive, intricate sound.
With a career that includes collaborations with legends like Joe Satriani, John Fogerty, Leon Russell, The Allman Brothers Band, and Adrian Belew, Ned Evett has had a remarkable musical journey.
This year, he even had the honor of playing a private recital for Sting and John McLaughlin. Now, he’s ready to bring his artistry to South Africa, performing at venues nationwide and introducing his revolutionary glass fretless guitar to a whole new audience.
In anticipation of the tour, Ned Evett shared, “I’m thrilled to bring my glass guitar and new music to South Africa—it’s more than just a performance; it’s a chance to connect, sharing the emotions and stories that make us human. There’s a powerful spirit in South Africa that has always drawn me, and I’m looking forward to exchanging energy and inspiration with everyone who’s ready to feel it.”
“This tour has a personal connection for me. Adrian Belew, who produced my Treehouse album, had incredible stories about recording on Paul Simon’s Graceland, which made me eager to tour here. I’ll be performing with a South African backing band in Johannesburg.”
Fans will experience Ned Evett’s world-class fretless guitar techniques, along with dynamic pop/rock songwriting from his new album, blending inventive solos and technical mastery with raw emotional depth. This is a unique opportunity to see a visionary musician pushing the guitar’s boundaries.
