More info about Kaecy
The 35-year-old soul and R&B singer, whose real name is Kgothatsao Sethole, celebrates a decade in the music industry by pushing the boundaries of his genres.
Hailing from Mamelodi, East of Pretoria, Kaecy has been immersed in a musical environment since birth. Coming from a family of singers, he was inspired to pursue music early on, finding his first stage at age 10 and developing his skills as a singer and songwriter.
In September 2007, Kaecy became the choir conductor for Rhodes University’s Voice of Glory Choir, leading performances at venues like the Great Hall at Wits University and the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
After returning to Pretoria in 2009, he worked as a background vocalist for artists such as Hassan Green (US), Bongi & Collin (SAMA and Crown Gospel Award winners), Letang, and Percy Mthunzi.
He made his solo debut with a concert titled “So Beautiful” on October 11, 2014, in Pretoria, where he received acclaim for his songwriting, vocal prowess, and commanding stage presence.
Kaecy released his debut album, “So Beautiful,” on October 6, 2017, named after the concert that launched his solo career. He has been featured on Afro Café and Gospel Classics on SABC 2, and has performed at notable venues across South Africa, including the South African State Theatre, The Johannesburg Theatre, the Javett Art Centre, and the 2022 National Arts Festival (Fringe Program) in Makhanda (Grahamstown), Eastern Cape.
As a Mandela Washington Fellow (2023) and alumni, he collaborated with other African artists on the song “Mandela’s Vision,” which was performed at the closing ceremony of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Summit in August 2023 in Washington DC. All his songs are available on major digital platforms.
