Justin Serrao has released his latest single, “Brand New Day”. It’s available to stream across all digital platforms. Serrao released his last single ‘Perfect Stranger’ at the end of 2019 and what was meant to be an exciting 2020, became one of the toughest years for music and arts in South Africa.
Justin Serrao comments on “Brand New Day”
“’Brand New Day’ highlights the funny things we did in hard Lockdown. To then seeing the light of day and seeing love, life, and forgiveness now that things are opening up again. Doesn’t matter if you weren’t yourself during lockdown, it was hard on everybody. You are forgiven. Come home.”
“Brand New Day” is the first single from Justin Serrao’s forthcoming EP and will be followed by more single releases leading up to the EP’s release. Serrao explains further, saying “I’ll be dropping a new song each Friday and there are some seriously emotional songs heading your way. Along with something a little Rock & Roll.”
Justin Serrao is one of the hardest working musicians in the industry
From his first band Smash & Grab Hotspot, to releasing his first solo album Touching Toes Without Clothes in 2012, starting his promotion and live event business ‘Yoh Yoh Yoh Shows’, releasing his 2nd album Forget and Let Loose in 2014, dropping solo singles and collaborating with other local acts on tracks like Sucker (solo); “Kinders Van Die Wind” (feat. Regardt Scheepers – which helped open Justin to the Afrikaans market); “Raining in my Soul” and “Winding Road” with punk-pop band CrashCarBurn, and in 2018 dropping what’s probably regarded as his best collective solo work to date – his One Year Warning EP.
Serrao recalls how much fun they had shooting the music video
“We had a couple of laughs shooting this video. We never knew Jonathan is such a great dancer.” Linking in the concept of the video and shooting in the studio, Serrao adds “We decided to shoot this video with a happy relaxed feel. Just the boys having a great time on screen. Jamming to the track. The song is about us getting out after lockdown. So, this is our happy dance.”
The music video for “Brand New Day” was filmed by Henry Marsh at Marsh Media Studio in Pretoria.
