Cape Town’s indie-pop singer-songwriter, Joseph Linley, is making his debut on the music scene with his first single, “I’m With You,” out now! With a heartfelt, honest approach and a touch of “main character energy,” the 26-year-old’s dynamic debut is sure to resonate with listeners.
“The concept for ‘I’m With You’ came to me a few years ago when I saw people I cared about who were hurting,” Joseph explains. “I wanted them to know that, even though I couldn’t fix things, I was standing with them.”
If his surname sounds familiar, that’s because he’s the older brother of Will Linley—who also co-wrote the single.
“We had so much fun working on this song together,” Joseph shares. “I had finished the chorus and the bridge and brought the first draft of the verses to Will because I knew he could help me bring them to life. His melody writing is next level, and he helped me polish the verses while keeping the heart of what I’d written. It was such a fun and rewarding process!”
The track was produced by Greg Abrahams, known for his work on Will’s previous singles. “The song starts small because I really wanted listeners to focus on the lyrics and feel the ‘free fall’ of the main character at the beginning. My hope is that it takes people on a journey from hopelessness to hope. By the end, I want them to feel like blasting it in the car with the windows down, fully awake to the preciousness of life,” Joseph Linley says.
With this release, Joseph Linley is carving out his own space in the industry
“I hope ‘I’m With You’ gives people the courage to face their challenges and reminds them to lean on the people around them for strength,” he says.
As for what’s next? Joseph is keeping an open mind. “I just want to enjoy this moment and see how the song resonates with people.”
“I’m With You” is available to stream on Spotify and all other streaming platforms!
