Last week I had the privilege to attend the MK MVP launch at Montecasino in Johannesburg. 12 music videos were released, all showcasing some awesome South African creativity. One video that particularly impressed me was the music video for the Isochronous song Destiny.
This song has been receiving extensive airplay over the last few months on South African radio stations and is one of the best SA singles released this year (in my humble opinion).
For those of you who did not know, Isochronous are an alternative pop sensation from Pretoria
The members of Isochronous are Marko Benini (on drums & backing vocals), Richard Brokensha (on lead vocals and guitar), Alex Parker (on keyboards & backing vocals) and Franco Schoeman (on bass & backing vocals). They have been making waves in the SA Music industry over the last few years. I first saw them perform at RAMFest 2010 Jhb last year.
Since then they’ve become a crowd favorite at some of the top music festivals in South Africa. Their sets at RAMFest in the Western Cape and Oppikoppi Unknown Brother (both festivals I attended in 2011) were absolutely phenomenal.
I recently saw them perform at Arcade Empire in Pretoria in late October at the Tuks FM Halloween Party (which was probably the best performance I’ve seen by them at this venue). They’ve also played in front of capacity crowds in Germany. Isochronous are truly one of the best live acts around in the SA Music industry today if you ask me.
I’m definitely going to watch Isochronous (along with South African international breakout artist Yoav) perform on the 10th of December 2011 at Arcade Empire, if you want to join the Pretoria faithful at the event, check out this Event Page on Facebook for details. For more information about the band, please check out the Isochronous website, the Isochronous Facebook Page or follow them on Twitter via @Isochronous_SA.
Destiny is taken off their recently released album Inscape. The song is without a doubt a piece of musical brilliance and the music video is a piece of brilliant visual artistry. The music video is produced by Silver Lining Pictures and Directed by Willem Grobler.
