Hellcats release video for Sunlight 1973

Hellcats burst onto the SA Rock scene in 2015 and made a huge impact on a scene that at one point seemed that it would possibly die of  boredom or even evaporate. I saw them for the first time at Arcade Empire last year and I have to admit that I was completely blown away from the first day that I was exposed to them.

It’s a few months down the line from that infamous first gig and these Joburg boytjies are showing no signs of slowing down. Since late 2015 they’ve released two EP’s, played an impressive amount of gigs around Gauteng, stunned audiences at Park Acoustics, Mieliepop, Red Right Hand, Capital Craft and the Good Luck Bar and were announced for Oppikoppi 2016 a few months ago. They are also currently working on their third EP entitled “A Coffin full of Hellcats Vol. 3”.

Today Hellcats (who has only 2 members: Warwick Rautenbach on guitar and Alessandro Benigno on drums and vocals) released a music video for their first single, “Sunlight 1973”. The music video has everything you need: from a bodacious blonde (who is sporting some sexy lingerie) and cute kittens to empty booze bottles and half eaten burgers and if you look really hard you could probably find hidden Easter eggs for the latest X-Men or Star Trek movies. Check the video for “Sunlight 1973” below:

If you’re going to Oppikoppi this year, make sure that you don’t miss their set. It’s a band you HAVE to see you have not seen them before. There’s no doubt in my mind that these okes are going to blow us away.
