“Wolve” is now available on all streaming platforms. A seismic song with edgy melodic undertones – Go The Rodeo‘s latest single dives into the role that depression can play in relationships, and being able to overcome mental health struggles together. Although the song opens with a dark, edgy tone, it segues into a more vibrantsound, and explosive bridge. The dark tone is contrasted by positive lyrics, and a hopeful outcome.
Writer and vocalist Corné comments on “Wolve”
“Wolve was written over a period of 2 years, and a lot of time was spent getting it to a point where I was happy with it. When I wrote the riff and the original chorus, I was in a dark mental place, but eventually I decided to lift the song out of that darkness, and give it a positive feeling.”
“Wolve’s lyrics are a story about my own dark thoughts, and how my significant other’s presence is able to lift me out of those thoughts. She had suffered personal trauma in that time, which overwhelmed her one evening, and in that moment it made me realize that she also struggles with similar thoughts, which made me feel even closer to her. We both have that wolf inside of us.”
The music video for “Wolve” was filmed at The Media Farm, directed and edited by vocalist, Corné van Niekerk, and filmed by Renier van Heerden. It features the duo performing in a simple studio setting, and graphically progresses from a simple gray-scale split-screen, to various combinations of split screens and overlays.

This has to be one of the coolest South African songs that I’ve heard in 2022. I’m curious to find out what the next step will be in the musical journey that Go The Rodeo has been taking us on (over the last few years).
