Gerald Clark has just released a new single entitled “Elderflowers”. The music video that accompanies the track was shot on location in Prague and in the Morava region of the Czech Republic during autumn of last year.
Malcolm McArb (Peer Music) comments on the track
“Elderflowers, Gerald Clark’s latest release, features one of our homegrown treasures at his mesmerising best. Fusing a familiar sound with a stripped-down sophistication, his ever more impressive vocal performance is as heartfelt as ever, with a hook that harks back to the great songwriters of the past. A song to make you reminisce and look to the future with equal elation.“
Gerald Clark explains “Elderflowers”
“Elderflowers was one of those songs written in just a few minutes, on the back of an old guitar string packet. There was a huge thunderstorm coming in and we were sitting in a cottage out in the woods outside a little town called Třebíč in Czech Republic. This song captures the absolute bliss of a lovers’ quest in the eye of the storm – that pure moment when love seems so simple. It was my first song written abroad; I have been working on a new album since which I plan to record and release in 2021.”
The music video was conceptualised, shot and directed by Gerald’s talented friends Konrad Raubenheimer and Danielle McDonald from AWEMYBRU, who flew over to visit him from Belgium the weekend the Springboks won the Rugby World Cup in 2019.
Gerald Clark comments on the Music Video
“The video contains some beautiful footage of the magic that is Prague, as well as the charms of the countryside and my lovely fiancé Radka, who stars as the character who leads the viewer through these mesmerising spaces. It took us a long time to release the video and we are happy to share it with the world.”
2020 has been quite a shitty year, but this track is definetely a ray of sunshine in the COVID-19 clouded horizon. I’m definitely curious to find out what the rest of Gerald Clark’s new album is going to sound like.
