Pretoria’s innovative band Future Radio has collaborated with some of South Africa’s top music talents—Vusi Nova, Daniel Baron, Jemma Catherine, Martin Bester, and Jamie-Lee Sexton—to release “Rise Again”, a powerful new single championing an anti-bullying message.
Blending various musical styles, the song conveys strength and solidarity, encouraging listeners to stand against bullying and overcome adversity.
A Creative Fusion of Styles
“Rise Again” showcases a unique fusion of sounds, marking Future Radio‘s most pop-influenced track yet. Each artist’s distinct style is seamlessly woven into the song, enriched with South African musical nuances.
The title, “Rise Again”, carries a dual meaning: it builds upon Future Radio‘s previous anti-bullying track “Rise”, symbolizing the resilience needed to keep rising after every setback.
The lyrics also feature the Zulu phrase “Asiphakame,” meaning “Let’s get up,” capturing the song’s empowering message of unity and resistance to bullying.
Message from the Artists
Frontman Johnny shares, “This song is all about finding the strength to stand up to something that affects so many, especially kids.
We aimed to create something that truly resonates and inspires young people to take a stand.” Producer Daniel Baron adds, “The project was an incredible journey from start to finish. The collaboration brought out the best in each of us, and the final result shows how music can unite people for a greater cause.”
A Groundbreaking Production: The Rise Show
“Rise Again” is closely tied to Future Radio‘s pioneering “Rise” show, a theatrical production aimed at combating bullying in South African schools.
The song was specifically crafted to support this production, which combines rock music, animation, and live performance to engage students in the fight against bullying. As both an anthem for the show and a call to action, “Rise Again” embodies themes of resilience and unity.
