Sad news music fans, South African rock band Zebra and Giraffe have announced that they’re calling it quits after 8 years of entertaining music fans.
Zebra and Giraffe posted this message on their Facebook page this afternoon:
It’s with sadness in our hearts that we announce the end of Zebra & Giraffe.
Kirstenbosch Gardens (20th March 2016) will be our last show for the foreseeable future. We’d like to thank each and every one of our fans over the years – your support and love for our music has made this amazing journey possible. To our families and friends – thank you for your love and support, for believing in us, and for putting up with all the craziness! To the people who’ve played an integral part in making this band what it is, we thank you for all your hard work and loyalty (Jess, Darryl, Marinus, Karl, Tania, Shy, Cian, Darren, Andrew, Rob, Bert, Liny, Cath, Christine, Marcus, Warwick, Maryke).
To all our fellow SA musos that we’ve shared the stage with, partied with, and toured with – keep rocking, keep the dream alive, thank you for all the good times, the late nights, the hangovers, but most off all – the music!
Over the past 8 years we’ve achieved so many things that we’re proud of; we’ve poured our hearts and souls into every recording and every show, but the time has come for each of us to move on to different things.
We leave you with our final release – a fitting song called Redefine. Download it on Soundcloud for free, and play it loud!
Greg, Alan, Mike & Stef.
It’s amazing how much Zebra and Giraffe have achieved in the last 8 years. They have come a long way from the band I vaguely remember watching live at Oppikoppi 2009 for the first time.
The countless Zebra and Giraffe performances that I experienced at venues like Arcade Empire and Ridgeback Village and festivals and events like Oppikoppi, RAMFest, Hatfield Carnival, Park Acoustics and Rise & Shine Festival will always hold a special place in my heart. Seeing their name on the line-up always put a smile on my face.
Here a few photos from Zebra and Giraffe shows over the years:
Thanks to Zebra and Giraffe for entertaining us for the last 8 years. I wish you all of the best with your future endeavors.
