South African dream pop sensation Bye Beneco are back with their new synth-pop dance track “Devl Eyes” through Apple’s Platoon. “Devl Eyes” is the newest fruit from Bye Beneco’s upcoming EP that will be released in the beginning of 2022.

The menacing sensation of pop-synth is beautifully underpinned in “Devl Eyes” by the optimistic, escapist nature of the disco elements in the piece. This very duality is the foundation of what Devil Eyes is selling. Birthed in a confined space during South Africa’s first lockdown, the song reflects the impulses Lenny-Dee wrestled with during this oddly serene period spent strictly indoors.

Surfacing urges to be ‘bad’ momentarily in order to experience a little relief, and maybe even some reckless fun, in a world where our existence feels tracked and monitored, is the centrepiece of the song. Once we reach the bridge, a spiralling synth hints  to a loss of control as “Devl Eyes” “worms its way inside of me”.

The Chorus is led by an underlying grumbling arpeggiator synth, oscillating, swinging us in and out of reality and a dreamworld. “The Devil Eyes, I clearly see them”; this steady repetition is almost an hypnosis. In the verse following – “Do you feel yourself as you wrap around my finger, I’ll hold you tight.. I’ll try be tender” – Lenny-Dee takes the control back.

Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, this eclectic dream-pop sensation are making waves in both the underground and the international indie scene. With the new single, the indie band manage to seamlessly and stylishly blend their uniquely ethereal 80’s inspired dream-pop sound with a faster pace that’s guaranteed to get your heart racing. Bye Beneco’s golden thread is female lead singer, Lenny-Dee Doucha’s evocative writing style and mesmerizing voice.

This SAMA (South African Music Awards) nominated group have, across three successful European tours, seen immense success playing renowned international festivals, namely, twice at Barcelona’s leading arts festival Primavera Sound.

They have recently been picked up by Apple’s Platoon in London and by EarthBeat Bookings and NO MILK TODAY in Amsterdam. This international procurement is a big deal for a South-African band who will soon relocate from Capetown to Berlin to weave their spell on Europe’s hippest capital.

Bye Beneco have shared the stage with acts like Allah-Las, MGMT and Ben Howard have independently released a succession of singles and music videos in the last two years. “Red Dress”, “It’s Not True Love“, “I’m Not The One” & “Baby I’m Gold ft. MISSU” have been featured on Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week’ playlists and Spotify ‘New Music Friday’ playlists across 25 countries, including UK & USA.

For the “Red Dress”music video they worked together with director Dune Tilley (Die Antwoord). The band get a lot of love in the eye of the international press. German sub-culture heavy-weight Kaltblut Magazine hosted an exclusive world premier of their cosmic-disco single ‘It’s Not True Love’ in late 2019 and the single reached #2 on the worldwide Indie Shuffle Chart.

Furthermore Bye Beneco have been shown off by many international media like Rolling Stone, Redbull, VEVO France, Wolf in a Suite (USA), Riptide Magazine (FR), Highclouds (BE), The Daily Indie (NL) and even traditional media features like a half page spread in the Sunday Times (UK).
