The Blood Brothers, South Africa’s first rock ‘n roll super group, have taken up arms for the Vrede Foundation in the fight against cancer. They banded together for the first time at Carnival City on the 18th of July and now they are bringing their killer 3 hour set to Cape Town next Wednesday, 23rd September, at Grant West Casino.
I was fortunate enough to experience the show at Carnival City and I have to say that it was one of the best musical experiences of 2015. If you’re in the Western Cape and you have not experienced it yet, make sure that you get tickets NOW! You won’t be disappointed.
The Vrede Foundation’s aim is to generate awareness amongst young South Africans (aged 15-29) regarding cancer and at the same time raise funds to provide financial aid to young South Africans with this disease.
To refresh your memories, here’s the names of all the Blood Brothers: Arno Carstens (Springbok Nude Girls), Francois van Coke (Fokofpolisiekar & Van Coke Kartel), George van der Spuy (Taxi Violence), Albert Frost (Blues Broers), Kobus de Kock Jnr. (Black Cat Bones), Hunter Kennedy (Fokofpolisiekar), Rian Zietsman (Taxi Violence), Jason Hinch (ex Black Cat Bones, Boargazm), Isaac Klawansky (Shadowclub) and Loedi Van Renen (Taxi Violence)
To get the Blood Brothers fired up for round 2 in Cape Town, Hunter Kennedy wrote the war cry, “People Gotta Know”. The video (and single) was released today, check out below:
You can buy the track on iTunes at this link.
This video was made by Loedi Van Renen, Hunter Kennedy and André Badenhorst. This was possible because of these wonderful people: Gideon, Toyah and Rochelle @ Media Film Services. I have to say that I’m blown away. It’s one of the coolest tracks and videos that has been released in 2015 (in my humble opinion).
