Absolutely Fabulous Duo, better known as ABFAB, have become one of Cape Town’s most in-demand live acts, redefining energetic performance with a lineup that is deceptively lean but immensely powerful.
With Lisa ‘MYNX’ Hugo on lead vocals and Sean ‘STYX’ Nunan behind the kit, this duo doesn’t just perform music. They detonate it.

ABFAB is a Duo with History and Fuel to Burn
After nearly fourteen years together and more than 2600 gigs, ABFAB is still accelerating. In September and October they dropped two new singles, “Wake Up!” and “Tequila Nights”, under LAB Records in the Netherlands. Both tracks have already hit local and international radio, proving that the world is catching on to what Cape Town audiences have known for years.
“Wake Up!” channels their signature pop rock punch, uplifted by Dutch DJ-producer remixes and driven by Lisa’s commanding voice. The message is simple and urgent. Life is short and alive is better than asleep. Sean describes the track as a reflection of their journey, a reminder of the electric spark they try to ignite in every room they play.
Lisa explains the spirit behind “Tequila Nights” as pure celebration. It is a song built for movement, crafted for nights that blur into stories. It is the sound of a crowd shaking off the weight of the world.
Both singles were produced by Brad Grobler of Big Productions and released internationally through LAB Records.
Global Momentum and Worldwide Reach
Since August 2025, ABFAB have been gaining serious international traction. They’ve been featured on Los Angeles’ Breaking Sound Radio and locked down a distribution and promotion partnership in New York City aimed at Sirius XM and campus radio. Airplay on Amazing Radio in both the UK and USA, including multiple UK spins and a spot on BBC Introducing, has amplified their presence further.
Across Europe “Wake Up!” landed on twenty-three Dutch stations through Diggipluggen, with confirmed airplay in France, Spain, Belgium and Portugal. Add international Spotify playlist support from Brazil, Australia and the USA, and the numbers start looking global rather than local.
“Tequila Nights” is now moving into full international promotion with official remixes from DJs abroad, positioning the duo for an even bigger impact in South Africa.
Brad Grobler, CEO of Big Productions and Label Manager at LAB Records, says the label signed ABFAB because they deliver something the industry desperately craves. Authentic musicianship, played live exactly as it sounds on record. No smoke, no mirrors, just talent.
A Summer Packed with Big-Stage Moments
The upcoming season is stacked. ABFAB opened for The Gypsy Kings on 16 November 2025 at De Grendel. They are following this up with two opening slots for the Boney M concerts on 20 and 21 December 2025 at Stanford Hills Estate and De Grendel. They’ll also play multiple shows around Cape Town throughout the festive period.
Their full schedule can be found at abfabmusic.com, and it is worth checking. This duo has momentum, precision and enough voltage to light up half the Atlantic seaboard.
