Linkin Park have been around since 1996 and even though they’ve lost their musical way by moving into “softer” music genres over the last few years one can’t deny that their earlier stuff was ground-breaking at the time and is still pretty amazing. There was a time when I was listening to “Hybrid Theory” and “Meteora” on repeat, but those days are long gone.
However, UK movie reviewer Ross Thompson recently used his solid editing skills and passion for films to produce an impressive mash-up recreation of their song “In The End” (which has rekindled my love for their first two albums).
The mash-up features lines out of The Lion King, Pulp Fiction, Inception, The Dark Knight, Point Break, Top Gun, Avatar, The Happening, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Jerry Maguire, Enter the Dragon, 12 Angry Men, The Blues Brothers, Finding Nemo, The Interview, The Usual Suspects, The Terminator, Django Unchained, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, The Matrix Reloaded, Kung Fu Panda, Beauty and the Beast, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Stonehearst Asylum and many others.
Ross Thompson’s effort caught the attention of Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda (who shared the video with his followers on Twitter). This clip might not have the same emotional impact as the original song, but “in the end, it doesn’t even matter” if you ask me.
This is pretty well done. It kinda reminds me of David Hasselhof singing the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme a few years ago. Some people just have a ton of time on their hands, it seems.
